Matt DeMello (himself) Easily, 2021's Most Accurate Album Title. 'Lonesome..' is a bold step in VKs' current arc: crossing from post-rock into more rural territory, and expanding the dimensions wherever their muses have warranted a cinematic adjective. Favorite track: Abandoned Planets.

Waxpancakehunter this album jettisoned my brain into the upper atmosphere through a hazy cloud of volcanic spaghetti dust Favorite track: Tharsis Montes Gundown.

Soylent Chiba Probably the best goddamn thing I've heard in my entire life. Each note on this exquisite album makes my hair stand on end. Favorite track: 3000 A.D..

YomaBarr You had me at "detuned guitars made to sound like a violin orchestra", also that metal garbage bin is awesome ;) This is really a soundtrack to some film noir long forgotten in an abandoned repository on, why not, Mars. Or more simply, space(y) crime jazz. And it's great.

Blackula Jonez One of a kind sound, post rock meets Ennio Morricone. Albums come out of nowhere so I pay homage when the rare opportunity presents itself. Groovy & atmospheric as always.

about

Sellers Note: We used real amplifiers, amp reverb explosions, real trumpets, trumpets through octave pedals and distortion, Cellos, Trash Metals, Metal Pipes, Bongos, Tambourines, Cabasas, Maracas, Plastic Buckets, Full Kit Drums, Tons of Guitars through myriad stomp box effects, a few Detuned Guitars played with a slide to sound like a violin orchestra, real Bass guitars were used and at one time a real Harmonica was used. All these instruments were performed by various members of the Volcano Kings.

Keyboards such as The Nord Electro 2, Yamaha Xk2 organ and a Moog Lil Phatty were used and played by human hands as well. The Nord was run through a Melotron Effect pedal to create a futuristic synth-orchestra sound in "Lonesome Cybernetic Drifter"

We hope the result resembles a lonely, lawless Mars in a distant future where it has long been the focus of an arduous unrealized terraforming project by transhuman or cybernetic earthlings.

The majority of the Album was DIY.
'Hellas Basin Transport' was recorded at 'Machines with Magnets' by Seth Manchester.
The album was self mixed. It is rather Lo Fi. It is our hope that the Lo FI quality might actually heighten your enjoyment.
